Roger Helmer steps down as Conservative spokesman on Employment
Thursday, 5th November 2009
Roger Helmer MEP has published an article on the Conservative Home website regarding his position on the Party's new EU policy, and in that article he states that he has resigned as Conservative spokesman on Employment in the European parliament. For the avoidance of doubt, and in response to media enquiries, he wants to make clear that he has not resigned from the Party or from the parliament. He continues to be a Conservative MEP.
He has made his position clear in the article - see the link below - and does not wish to add to that statement. Accordingly, he is not taking interviews on the issue.
Our new European policy is confused and essentially cosmetic - and I cannot defend it from the frontbench
