MEP lends hand in local by-election

Wednesday, 22nd March 2006

North Whetstone – Leicestershire’s Conservative MEP Roger Helmer was in North Whetstone on Saturday to lend his support to the Conservative candidate in the local Council by-election for the North Whetstone Ward.

Mr Helmer joined local candidate Karl Coles and a host of Conservative councillors, supporters and activists for a full day of campaigning, canvassing and discussing the concerns of local residents.

Speaking after the visit, Mr Helmer said:

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to come and help in North Whetstone and to support the local Conservative party. Karl Coles is an excellent candidate and would do a great job representing the people of North Whetstone on Blaby District Council.”

The by-election will be held on 6th April 2006 and was called following the death of long standing and popular Conservative councillor Anna Pullen.
