MEP lends hand in local by-election

Wednesday, 22nd March 2006

Wellingborough – East Midlands Conservative MEP Roger Helmer was in Wellingborough on Friday to lend his support to the Conservative candidate in the Council by-election for Hemmingway Ward.

Mr Helmer joined local candidate Graham Lawson, Wellingborough’s MP Peter Bone and a host of Conservative supporters for a full day of campaigning, canvassing and discussing the concerns of local residents.

Speaking after the visit, Mr Helmer said:

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to come and help in Wellingborough. Graham Lawson is an excellent candidate and would do a great job representing the people of Hemmingway.”

The by-election will be held on 6th April 2006, with the seat formerly held by Conservative Cron Ager. Labour, UKIP and Green Parties are also fielding candidates.
