Brussels - Top Lincolnshire Student Mark Darby has been at the European Parliament in Brussels this week on a visit hosted by local Conservative MEPs Roger Helmer and Chris Heaton-Harris.
Mark, from Skellingthorpe in Lincolnshire, was one of the top ten Politics students in the country this summer following his outstanding A-level results. Mark's former school St Peter and St Paul's received special notice from the Exam Board of his exceptional Politics marks.
Mr Helmer and Mr Heaton-Harris invited Mark to come out to Brussels after reading about his exceptional grades in the Lincolnshire Echo.
Speaking today, Mr Helmer said:
“I read about Mark's top ten status in the Lincs Echo and was very impressed. I think it's important for young people to be interested in politics and thought it would be a good experience for Mark to come out to see the work we do in the European Parliament.
“Mark is an exceptionally bright young man and I hope his visit has given him some insight into European Politics”
Speaking about his visit, Mark said:
“It was a great surprise to be asked to come over to the European Parliament. It's been a good experience seeing politics in action."
