East Midlands Tories choose Euro Team

Monday, 27 January 2003

East Midlands Conservatives have selected 5 Candidates to represent them at the 2004 Elections for the European Parliament. The list of candidates for the elections is as follows:

1. Roger Helmer MEP
2. Chris Heaton-Harris MEP
3. Councillor Pauline Latham
4. Sharon Buckle
5. Jonathan Bullock

Party Members from all over the East Midlands met at Hustings meetings in Lincoln, Nottingham, Derby, and Leicester to vote in the selections and showed their confidence in the commitment and dedication of the two Conservative MEPs Roger Helmer and Chris Heaton-Harris and have also gone for experience by selecting Derby City Councillor Pauline Latham in third place.

Both Pauline Latham and Sharon Buckle were on the Conservative list for the 1999 European Elections. Jonathan Bullock, who fought Gedling for the Conservatives in 2001, lives and works in Northamptonshire and comes from Nottingham where he was at University. He has been active at all levels of the Party.

Roger Helmer and Chris Heaton-Harris were delighted at the support they received. "For the last 4 years we have represented the East Midlands in Europe not Europe in the East Midlands. We now have a strong team of candidates who will join us in delivering for Britain and especially the East Midlands in the 2004 elections."
