Win bubbly in the great Kilroy hunt!

Wednesday 31st August 2005

East Midlands Conservative MEPs Chris Heaton-Harris and Roger Helmer have today launched a ‘Where is Kilroy?’ contest in order to discover exactly how Robert Kilroy Silk is representing his electors in the East Midlands.

The MEPs, who have already demanded the resignation of RKS, feel that his increasingly long periods of absence in the region are badly letting down his East Midlands constituents.

Mr Kilroy Silk was elected to the European Parliament in 2004 as a UKIP member, before a failed leadership bid saw him establish his own Veritas Party in a fit of pique. His subsequent resignation from his very own party and his refusal to serve on any Parliamentary committees has seen him spend more and more time at his 500-acre estate in Southern Spain and less in the region he represents.

Speaking from Brussels, Mr Heaton-Harris said:

“In June 2004, East Midlands electors voted in good faith to make RKS one of their MEPs. He's repaid that faith by rarely visiting the European parliament, and even less frequently the East Midlands.”

As a result, the MEPs are offering a bottle of champagne to the first person to spot Kilroy in the East Midlands area. Anyone spotting Kilroy in the region should email .
