Tuesday 1st November 2005
Strasbourg - East Midlands Conservative MEP for Leicestershire Roger Helmer is today pleased to announce the appointment of the newest member of his international team, Leicestershire student Keeley Boyd.
Keeley, a former Lutterworth Grammar School pupil from Bruntingthorpe has joined the team in Strasbourg as an assistant while studying abroad for a year as part of her University of Leicester degree course in French Law and language.
An Honorary Midshipman in the Royal Naval Reserves Officer, Keeley has enjoyed work experience with the Naval Legal Service and has worked onboard Naval Warships as a journalist for training exercises. She is also a qualified sailing instructor and an accomplished violinist, who spent ten years playing in the county orchestra.
Speaking on Keeley’s appointment, Mr Helmer said:
“Keeley has already shown remarkable maturity for a student, and has very quickly understood the demands of the job. Her enthusiasm and commitment are refreshing. In October, she provided me with very valuable help when I hosted a large delegation of visitors from Washington to the Strasbourg parliament”
