MEP to sample a taste of the East Midlands
Thursday, 30 September 2004
Local Conservative MEP, Roger Helmer, is to attend the East Midlands Regional Food and Drink Festival 2004, to be held at Melton Mowbray.
The event, which will be attended by several media celebrities including Antony Worral-Thompson and Clarissa Dickson Wright, is to be held at the Exhibition Halls at the Melton Mowbray Cattle Market on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th October.
Mr Helmer, who has represented the East Midlands in Europe since 1999 said:
"I am delighted to be lending my support to this exciting festival. When people ask me what the East Midlands represents I find it difficult to give one definitive answer, as the region is spread across such a varied geographical area. This weekend at least provides people with a unique opportunity to sample what the East Midlands tastes like!"
Festival spokeswoman, Sheila Davenport, added:
"The aim of the Festival is to celebrate what makes East Midlands region special in terms of its food and drink culture and heritage. Hopefully we can use this event to help enhance the local economy. We are delighted that Mr Helmer is joining many other well known public figures in supporting this event."
Roger will be available on Sunday 10th October for press interviews and photo opportunities from 10am.
