		Letter to the Editor Nottingham Evening Post - Tuesday, 9 December 2003 Dear Sir, L. G. Arnott (Letters, 8 Dec) complains that MEPs only come out when an election is in the offing, and are unwilling to debate. Wrong on both counts. My Conservative colleague Chris Heaton-Harris and I have maintained an East Midlands press office, and a high media profile, ever since we were elected in 1999. We have cupboards full of press cuttings to prove it! And if L.G Arnott thinks we're unwilling to debate European issues — just try us! But the last thing I do is try to "gloss over the horrors of the EU". Indeed I've devoted five years of my life to warning East Midlands voters that the EU represents a major threat to our prosperity, our democracy and increasingly to our security as a nation.
